Veel rabarberijuurtest/More about Rhubarb Roots

I dyed some more yarn with rhubarb roots. I took 50 g of yarn and 150 g of fresh roots. Procedure was the same as first time, but I sieved the dye water to get the root pieces out. And I used rain water instead of well water. We have enough of rain water at the moment, so I don't have to fight with my dh over it (he needs rain water for the aquarium). The yarn was of beautiful ochre color (more yellow than on the picture) and the yarn from afterbath was beige. I dyed in a cast iron pot, but it didn't have any (visible) effect on the color. I guess I have to use iron mordant if I want to get greens.

As I had tons of rhubarb root left, I cut it to pieces and now it's drying. It is rather easy to cut the fresh roots and they dry quite quickly.
